🛠️ What to Expect: SWIP Team Inspection Visit
Dear Installer,
Thank you for your continued commitment to quality as part of the SWIP Approved Installer Programme. As part of our process, a SWIP representative will carry out a quality inspection of your Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) or Room-in-Roof (RIR) installation.
This inspection will be conducted either through an on-site visit or a desktop inspection via recorded video call, depending on the project.
✅ Purpose of the Inspection
The inspection ensures your installation meets SWIP’s system requirements, manufacturer guidelines, and workmanship standards—supporting your ongoing approval status.
🔍 Types of Inspection
1. On-Site Inspection
A SWIP inspector will visit your site to assess the installation in person.
What to Expect:
- Notice Given: You’ll receive the estimated arrival window in advance.
- Duration: 30–60 minutes, depending on complexity.
- Focus Areas:
- Correct use and installation of SWIP System components
- A wall showing installed SWIP Stud & Batt
- Another wall showing installed SWIP Stud, Batt and membrane fully taped to specification.
- Finishing and detailing at reveals, corners, sockets, sills
- General quality of workmanship
- Compliance with the SWIP installation guides
Please Prepare:
- Access to installed areas
- Relevant documents (designs, floor-plan of areas requiring insulation)
- An available on-site contact (NVQ Level 2 - Certified )
2. Desktop Inspection (Video Call)
For remote locations or when a physical visit isn't practical, we will conduct a video-based desktop inspection.
What to Expect:
- A pre-scheduled video call walkthrough using your mobile device
- The inspection will be recorded for verification and training purposes
- Real-time feedback and guidance during the call
Please Prepare:
- A fully charged mobile phone or tablet with a working camera
- A stable internet connection
- Well-lit rooms for visual clarity
- Full access to the installation areas
📦 Materials & Components We’ll Be Inspecting
The inspection will verify correct and proper use of the following SWIP System components:
- SWIP Stud – correct positioning and alignment
- SWIP Batt – compression fit and integrity
- SWIP Tapes – full sealing around junctions and edges
- SWIP Reveal Boards – used appropriately around windows and doors
- SWIP Insulated Plasterboard – correct fixing, joint treatment, and finishing
- Adhesives & Fixings – as specified in the system documentation
- Additional Components – mechanical fixings, sealants, vapour control layers, etc.
Every component plays a critical role in the system’s thermal, airtightness, and fire performance. The inspector will be checking both product presence and installation quality.
💬 During the Inspection
- The inspector may take photos or screenshots (with your permission)
- You’ll receive constructive feedback in real time
- If any corrective actions are needed, they’ll be clearly explained
🏁 After the Inspection
You will receive:
- A completed inspection report/form
- Summary of findings and any actions required
- Confirmation of system compliance or next steps if issues are identified
